III. MANAGEMENT
Vardenafil, and tadalafil appear to be well tolerated and safe in patients receiving most concomitant antihyperten¬sive agents except «-blockers but caution is required. Vardenafil is contraindicated in patients taking a-blockers as severe hypotension may be precipitated.
Tadalafil is contraindicated in patients taking a-blockers except for 0.4 mg tamsulosin but caution is required.
Vardenafil has been shown to cause a small increase in QTc. The label warning says ‘‘should be avoided in patients with congenital QT prolongation and patients taking class IA antiarrhythmics,’’ (eg. quinidine, procainamide) or class III (eg, amiodarone, sotalol). Several agents known to prolong the QT interval should be avoided.
