system, adrenergic. syncope temporary loss of consciousness caused by lack of
blood supply to the brain; fainting describes a simple syncopal
attack. systole period of contraction of the heart muscle especially of
the ventricles; blood is ejected from the ventricles.

tachycardia increase in heart rate exceeding 100 beats per
minute. tachypnea increased respiratory rate. thrombi blood clots. thrombocythemia increased levels of circulating blood
platelets. thrombocytopenia a mild decrease in platelet counts. thromboembolic clots or thrombi that break off from the
interior lining of the heart; they are propelled by the blood
and become lodged in an artery supplying blood to an organ
