V. SCREENING
C. Canadian Task Force Recommendation
The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care indicates that there is insufficient evidence to recom¬mend screening for homocysteine levels in any patient population.
D. Normal and Abnormal Homocysteine Levels
Normal homocysteine blood levels that range from 5 to 15, 16 to 30, 30 to 100 and greater than 100 mmol/L are described as mild, intermediate, and severe elevations, respectively. Women appear to have levels 1 mmol/L less than men; values increase with age in both sexes.
